A nice spot for drinks, with a warm, homely feel and genuinely friendly staff. I really enjoyed the tender braised Ox cheek and the mash alongside it, and the Meringue dessert tart was lovely too. The Chicken Parfait starter was just a touch too sour for my taste.

The meal and drinks were so good we ate almost in silence. We went for my partner Lynn Porter’s birthday lunch, with her sister Pauline and my sister Sheila. It was excellent value for the money, and we’ll keep coming back while we live nearby. We’d happily return for each birthday or any other occasion, and visit as often as we can afford.

We had a lovely finish to the meal with the sharing tart tatin. My son chose this place for his 21st birthday and it was a great call. The food was fantastic, the service superb, and the informal dining worked really well. Dog friendly and welcoming, too. Well recommended.

The Duncombe Arms always feels like a treat without being formal. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the team are warm and attentive without hovering. Every visit has brought the same high standard, from the well judged menu to beautifully cooked food. It’s a reliable place I’m happy to return to, and it never disappoints.

Dylla made our visit feel perfect, and I’m especially grateful for that. We had a wonderful lunch out in the sunny garden, and the food was excellent. Excellent!!
