The Victoria Inn

The location is nice, but the food was a real letdown. The taste, portion sizes and presentation were all disappointing. We came on a recommendation, which made it even more unfortunate. Maybe it was just the burgers, but I can't recommend ordering the food. A McDonald's meal would have been more satisfying.

Free jacket potatoes with every drink! They're mad, fun and welcoming, and you have to go to really appreciate those potatoes. We especially loved listening to Julie Anne sing.

The room was so drab, and I was shocked by its condition. There were holes in the wall, the wardrobe was propped on wood blocks, and the mattress and bed base were badly stained. There weren't even curtains at the window, so they had to go and buy a rail and curtains. We also had to point out that the bed had no base sheet. We'd booked the Foxtor room in the pub, but when we arrived they said they'd let it to someone else and gave us the only room they had. I couldn't wait to get out. I'm sorry I didn't take photos, but I would have been ashamed to rent that room to anyone.

I only popped in for a drink. The staff were super friendly, and there was a great selection of unique pints.
