The meals were a real highlight: breakfast and lunch were buffet style, dinner came from a menu, and everything we ate was tasty, healthy and filling. We also had a lively Aqua fit class that was excellent, and the big whirlpool was lovely, with comfortable warmth, jets and water beds. Our room had a lovely lake view, though the bathroom was tiny and the paint was peeling. The shower worked well, but water escaped past the door and made the floor wet. We enjoyed the spa, but the small steam room and sauna in each changing area were underwhelming. The female sauna was much colder than expected, and the steam room wasn't as hot as the one at my gym. There were only a few showers, so we had to queue. I didn't try the mixed sauna by the main pool. We skipped the gym and fitness studios, though the timetable also listed country walks and hikes. We were warmly welcomed, and the tour explaining the facilities and showing us to our room was helpful. The boutique shops are just behind reception. We had a very enjoyable stay and would like to try another Champneys resort or spa hotel to compare the facilities and service, especially the steam rooms and saunas, which matter more to us than treatments.

The gym and spa were excellent, and the meals were very good, especially dinner. Breakfast was good too, though the buffet hot plate didn't keep the food hot enough. At check-in, a quick explanation of how the lockers work would have helped. There was a nice feel to the place and the staff were lovely. Catrina and Massimo were wonderful when they served our evening meal. We had a little mix-up with the tables, and at checkout they gave us the drinks bill from the table next door. The building also feels a bit tired, with little things needing attention wherever you look. Still, we had a lovely stay. It was superb value and the service was some of the best.

It was peaceful, clean and luxurious, with plenty of places to relax. The treatment area was especially calm and spotless, and Lana gave me an incredible massage. All the meals were delicious and good value, and the staff were so helpful and welcoming. We had a really relaxing stay at Springs. The one drawback was a cold room with no heating, so in winter I'd suggest bringing long pyjamas.

The facial we had on Wednesday, the day we arrived, and Thursday's body bliss massage were both amazing. We loved the treatments. The young woman who wrote down our feedback before we left was kind and said she'd make sure her manager heard it, though he wouldn't be back until Monday. I haven't heard anything since. The rest of the stay was very disappointing. When we arrived, someone showed us to the bedroom and that was all. We had no idea where the spa or restaurant was. The room was cold, and there was no information about reception, meal times or how to use the phone. We tried the first and last buttons without success, then walked back to reception and were told to dial 0. We were also told the radiator was behind the curtain. It warmed the room a little, but it was covered in cobwebs at the top. My friend and I had a twin room for her 60th. When I moved the beds apart, I found popcorn between them, so that space hadn't been cleaned. The duvet insert was so short that it couldn't reach my feet if I pulled it up to my shoulders. I'm only 5ft 7in. My friend was so cold she wore a T-shirt under her nightgown and used the robe as another blanket. We'd hoped to unwind in warm water and catch up, but the pool was freezing, and both the hot tub and hydro pool were lukewarm. We had to warm up in the sauna, which wasn't great. On Thursday we gave up on the spa facilities because we didn't want to get cold and wet. Using them was the whole point of the stay, so after our treatment we left. The wellness receptionists were poor with us. Two or three were standing chatting while I waited, and when they did deal with my question they showed very little courtesy. We asked to leave feedback rather than just post a bad review. After all this, Champneys is somewhere I definitely won't recommend.

The staff were kind, welcoming and excellent at their jobs throughout. The treatments were top notch, and the food was healthy and tasty. The gym was very up to date, with Technogym equipment and separate HIIT and Mind & Body rooms. The pool was a decent size, clean and calm. We spent the weekend there for my partner's birthday. Our room was spacious and warm, with beautiful views of the grounds, though the bathroom and shower could use some updating. The walls were unfortunately very thin. Two groups of women were drinking wine and cackling late into the night, but we were tired from the activities and slept through it. We'll come back. A few touch-ups around the place would help.
