We’ve been many times and always leave extremely satisfied. This time we were out for our mum’s 86th birthday, and they managed to fit us in at the last minute after our local pub let us down because they’d run out of food. The food was fabulous as usual, and the service was great.

We found The White Horse online while staying at a local holiday site, looking for somewhere decent to eat. I’m glad we did. We called ahead on a Sunday evening, expecting it to be busy, and the friendly woman on the phone booked us in within minutes. The 20-minute drive brought us to a lively, busy pub full of families and laughter. It felt homely, and the open log fire was very welcome on a cold, windy night. The staff were lovely. When we explained that our son has ARFID and doesn’t eat much, the woman serving us brought him a colouring book, crayons and a lollipop. Such a kind gesture. The food was incredible. I’m a fussy eater too, and I had halloumi fries followed by herby crumbed chicken breasts with Parmesan potatoes in a bacon and leek sauce. My husband had the lamb roast, which made me question my choice, though I did sample some of his potatoes. Delicious! We wanted to come back another night of our holiday, but found out they don’t serve food on Mondays. It’s a shame the pub is two hours from home, because we’d come regularly without hesitation. The place looks lovely, feels warm and welcoming, and the team works so well together. Our starters, mains and drinks came to around £60. Great value.

The Sunday beef roast was well cooked and came in good portions, so we left satisfied. There’s a good range of drinks too. It’s a friendly pub with great service and a lovely atmosphere, plus a big garden. On the Bank Holiday there was entertainment. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. We had a great visit and would recommend it.

We stopped in for dinner and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The menu has such a good range that we had trouble choosing. I don’t know who the chef is, but the food was amazing. Lovely atmosphere, delicious meal and polite, friendly service all the way through. We’ll be back.

We went to The White Horse for Sunday lunch, and it was well worth the slightly out-of-the-way trip. The pub was warm and welcoming, the staff were amazing, and the food was wow. The chef and kitchen team deserve real credit for the quality and cooking. We’ll absolutely return and recommend it to everyone.
