The food and cosy atmosphere made us happy to return. We had beef rice, veggie curry and cheese chips, all very tasty, plus mulled cider that was lovely but arrived a little cold. It’s a proper ski bar restaurant, full of character with an authentic local alpine feel and great music. Staff were friendly, though after we’d finished eating we waited at the table to pay for a while, then went to the bar when nobody came over.

We hired skis here for three days and found the prices reasonable. The staff were professional, friendly, quick, and knew the area well. When high winds closed the slopes and we couldn’t ski on day three, they were happy to refund us. We’d definitely come back and are glad to recommend them.

After a day of winter hill walking, we stopped in around 3 on Sunday afternoon. The welcome was friendly, and the homemade beef chilli with rice was delicious and just right before our drive home. It’s a genuine ski bar, like places you’d come across in the Alps.

The bar is quirky and dog friendly, with great service and food. They catered for my GF and DF diet, and the prices were reasonable for the area. We’ll definitely be back.

We were happy to hang out for a while between lunch and dinner, watching the birds and chatting before ordering. A kind staff member explained it was a quiet stretch of the day. The place is wonderfully eclectic, and the food was amazing, especially the delicious, well-made vegan burgers and excellent chips. The one-star reviews say more about their writers than the pine marten bar. Look out for the holy pigeon, cooing for our sins.
