My mum and I found this place by chance while visiting for the day, and we’re so glad we stopped in. We were greeted with a big smile and such a friendly welcome. The service stayed outstanding, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Mark looked after us especially well and suggested food and drinks that were all spot on. We had a lovely time and will definitely return. Highly recommend!

The rooms are on the small side, but clean and cosy, and it’s good value for money. Just be ready for the stairs. Everyone working in the hotel and at the Merdian next door was friendly and helpful, which made my short stay very enjoyable. I’d definitely stay again when visiting Ayr.

Four of us turned up with a wee puppy for an unplanned early dinner, or late lunch. The lassie running the bar and restaurant handled everything superbly and was really friendly, making us feel welcome. The food was astounding, and excellent value. We wished we’d taken photos. Highly recommend!

I came here after the horse races, having skipped lunch and had three ciders, and ended up with one of the most awful dinner experiences of my life. I was singing along to a song playing and was refused service. They said I could get takeaway, led me outside, then refused to give me any food there either. I was shocked by how rude and dishonest the staff seemed. People outside the takeaway across the street told me not to take it personally. The place was so empty, and I felt the people working there were just mean. I found myself trying to convince everyone to visit Canada, where you’d be made to feel much more welcome. I’d come to discover my roots, but flew home understanding why my grandmother had left as a war bride.

We stopped in because they advertised bar food. It’s a very pleasant old-fashioned pub, with tasteful decor and lots of golf, football, and rugby memorabilia. The pub food was good, and there was plenty of choice in beers and spirits.
