The big sitting room and dining room made it feel like a proper family stay, and our rooms were roomy and comfortable. We booked the whole place for two days while we were in Ayr for a wedding. Helen and Alan were so helpful. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend it.

Greenan Castle is close by, an old 16th-century tower house that may have been built where an ancient fort once stood. Its entrance lintel carries the inscription JK 1603 FMD, referring to John Kennedy of Baltersan and his third wife Florence MacDowell, who held the lands, Greenan Mill and salmon fishing rights on the River Doon at the time. The setting itself is peaceful and good for unwinding, yet restaurants, golf courses, Burns Cottage, Brig O'Doon, coastal walks and town centre shops are all within a five-minute drive. Culzean Castle Country Park is about 15 minutes south by car, with Electric Brae and the beach at Croy along the way.

The place was spotless and comfortable, and the location and general feel were great too. Everyone was friendly. Can't fault any of it, a lovely stay. Five stars! :)
