I hadn’t been here for a couple of years, and it was great then too. The food, atmosphere, and service are still great. They said the food would take around 30 minutes, but it came sooner. I had sausage, mash, and Yorkshire pudding, all beautiful.

A real treasure in the heart of Bakewell, with a cosy atmosphere and fantastic staff. Corey especially made a lasting impression. Friendly, attentive, and very professional, they made sure everything was right without being overbearing. That kind of natural, sincere service is rare. Give the lad credit. I’ll be back!

We only stopped in for a drink, so didn’t order food, though what we saw going to other tables looked good. It’s in a great location, with a good patio area, and was very clean and DF. The staff were friendly.

I went to the Castle Inn pub on a Wednesday while spending time in Bakewell town centre, and came in for a meal with my partner. Sadly, I left feeling quite uncomfortable. I struggle with anxiety, so being singled out can be difficult. Not long after we sat down, an older blonde-haired staff member asked if we were ordering through the app. She then said that if we wanted alcohol we’d need ID and would be wasting our money. It felt like she’d already decided I was underage, even though we hadn’t ordered anything and had only come for food. We weren’t planning to order alcohol. I understand and respect that pubs need to check age and follow ID policies when alcohol is involved. But the way this was put felt abrupt and embarrassing, especially as I’m turning 20 this year. A friendlier, more respectful explanation of the policy would make a big difference, particularly for customers who may already feel anxious. I hope this feedback helps improve how these situations are handled.
