The Gordon Guest House

Beth made us feel so welcome, and she was always helpful. The thoughtful details around this bed and breakfast really stand out, and we loved the breakfasts. It’s my favourite place to stay in this part of Scotland. We could happily have stayed longer.

The breakfast was a real highlight, with generous portions and tasty food. They offer a small discount on the room if you skip it, but I wouldn’t miss it. It was one of the best breakfasts we had during our stay in Scotland. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful, shared good local tips, and have a wealth of knowledge and books. We ended up chatting for ages and got a lovely impression of Scottish hospitality. The rooms are spacious and clean, with amenities well stocked. The house is centrally located in Ballater, with plenty of good places to eat and parking nearby. It’s a highly recommended base for exploring the Cairngorms national park.

The breakfast was delicious, with a good choice and lots of local produce, and our spacious room was clean and comfortable, with cracking views on two sides. Beth & Steve made us feel genuinely welcome and created a friendly atmosphere throughout our three nights at the Gordon. They’ve clearly thought through the guest experience: the room folder has useful information about Ballater, the house, the artwork, books guests can borrow, their history, and Steve's two lovely Morris cars. You won't be disappointed.

I stayed at the Gordon Guest House in early October while travelling solo through the Highlands. Steve was incredibly hospitable, and my room was clean and cosy with a great view of the nearby hills. Breakfast was included and delicious, and it’s only a short walk to good lunch and dinner spots. No complaints at all, a perfect quaint and comfortable place to stay in Ballater.
