Lovely 3-bed Caravan in Galloway Forrest

We booked a caravan overlooking the loch, and waking up to the peaceful water and lovely scenery made the stay special. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our time and would definitely return. Three Lochs Holiday Park in Balminnoch, Newton Stewart, Dumfries & Galloway, sits among the countryside of South West Scotland, with views over three peaceful lochs. There are modern caravans and luxury lodges to rent or buy. On site, there’s an indoor heated pool, restaurant and bar, shop, children’s play areas, pitch and putt golf, watersports with kayaking, paddleboarding and jet skis, fishing, archery, pony trekking, and woodland and lochside walking trails.

We went Monday to Thursday and it was very quiet, with not much to do. We hired a private caravan, which was fine. The site itself felt dated and there wasn’t much going on. The pool was booked by family, one family per half hour, and it seemed to be missing a lot and wasn’t great. The restaurant didn’t open until 5pm and had dirty floors, unclean toilets, flies on the window ledges and food left on tables. You have to book. The food itself was lovely and the portions were good. The bar was very bare, with just a pool table, and there’s no entertainment except at weekends, when I imagine it would be squashed. It’s too quiet for me, I’m afraid.

The road down to the site is rough, but once you get there it’s a lovely, well-kept place. There are nice walks around the lochs, and the little pub and restaurant is a great idea. I had a lovely pint and enjoyed the pool table. The caravans all look top standard. If I get the chance to come back, I definitely will.

Our lodge overlooked the main area, and the views were excellent. The accommodation was great.
