The food was the high point of our week in Bamburgh. My duck breast was divine, and my family were full of praise for the mussels, lobster, and posh fish and chips. The gluten-free welcome felt more like an afterthought. I ate fine, and they can cater for gluten-free diners, but there was no separate menu or indication on the main one of which dishes were available. You had to ask a waiter, which could be awkward when they said a particular meal wasn't possible. We also found the service a bit lacking for the prices. The waitress who took our orders was lovely, but the waiter bringing the drinks and food seemed grumpy and quite curt.

The meals were well above the usual standard, and the staff were friendly, discreet and a lot of fun. From the moment we entered, the whole experience was brilliant. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

We were a group of English, American and Japanese diners, and all loved the food tasting experience. On our tour of the UK, this was by far the best restaurant we visited. The local produce was truly exceptional, the menu felt unique, the staff were superb and the interior design was excellent. Bamburgh is a jewel of the United Kingdom.

After walking on the beach at sunrise to photograph the castle, my son and I came in for breakfast. A welcoming staff member seated us in the pub, where the high-backed leather chairs by the fireplace were very comfortable. We chose quickly once the menus arrived. He had the full English, while I went for lemon and caper kippers with grilled tomatoes. A pot of tea each was just right alongside the fabulous food. Sitting there and enjoying the setting was a pleasure. We only had breakfast, so I can't comment on the rooms. Anyone visiting the village should stop in for breakfast. Compliments to the staff and owners.

We were lucky to get the last table for two when we walked in. The staff explained that meals come as either a two-course or three-course menu, so we couldn't order just one course. It's a little more expensive than nearby places, but the food quality justified it. My husband enjoyed his beef, and I loved the grilled sea bass, right down to the last bite. We finished with excellent trifle and crème brûlée. Our waitress was lovely and service was good. There's also a separate dining area for guests with pets, which is a nice touch. The one thing that bothered me was the route to the toilets, which passes behind some tables. People kept walking behind us. Still, I'd recommend eating here if you're around Bamburgh.
