The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were smartly presented and looked after us well. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy, and the hotel itself is beautiful in a gorgeous setting. It's quite isolated if you don't want to eat there, though the views make up for that. It's a good fit if you're happy to spend time at the hotel or go walking. The weather was really poor during our stay, so we couldn't make the most of the hotel and surrounding area. We'd definitely return.

The views were a highlight, from the lake outside our bedroom shutters to the mountains visible from the breakfast room. Our room was spacious and spotless, with tea and coffee ready, and stayed warm on a cold November evening. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were happy to add a few extras. We also enjoyed drinks by the open fire before heading out to eat, with a great choice at the bar. The Haweswater Hotel has a lovely early 1900’s character throughout. There was something interesting around every corner, including an old cash register, vintage phones and puff-style perfume bottles in the bathrooms. It made for a cosy, memorable stay, and we'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery and a hotel with personality.

We loved how remote the location was. We drove to the end of the road and hiked up the local wainwrights, so it was great to have them right there. The garden room was a good choice, with its own entrance to the gardens, a huge bed, bath and shower, plus a separate cosy sitting room. Breakfast was great on both mornings, with plenty of options and quick service. We ate at the hotel one evening and the food was gorgeous; both guys serving were friendly and attentive. It is expensive, though, so we chose a local pub for our other post-hike dinner to get something heartier and cheaper. My one gripe is that the room wasn't serviced while we were there. Apparently we needed to ask, but for the price I'd expected at least the bed to be made and the coffee station topped up.

We've been coming here for 15 years, and the remote setting is just right for switching off and relaxing. The atmosphere has settled back into a nice, relaxed feel, and the food is delicious. Rooms are beautifully decorated, and the staff always give us a friendly welcome and are helpful throughout. We look forward to the next visit, and thank you. I'd prefer customers to be given the choice about paying a service charge.

The staff make you feel welcome, and everyone was helpful and efficient. Set just above Haweswater Reservoir, the hotel fits beautifully into the surroundings. Inside, the Art Deco style is a delight, with artefacts and music from that elegant period. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a comfortable bed and complimentary toiletries. The vegan full breakfast was good, and I especially liked having a decent-sized coffee pot. A real gem.
