Breakfast was a letdown for what we’d paid. There were no menus, just someone saying they could do a “full breakfast,” so we had to guess what to ask for. The eggs were hard and overcooked, the bacon was very fatty, and the beans were hard. I couldn’t eat mine. We’d hoped to have a final drink together after visiting The Farmer’s Dog, but when we got back at 10:30pm, the till was closed. We’d picked the hotel partly to spend time together, so that was disappointing. The bathroom in our room smelled so bad we couldn’t use it, and we had to use the children’s bathroom instead. In another room, our parents found opened food from a previous guest still in the fridge, which was off-putting and made us question the cleanliness. We paid £803 for four rooms for one night and were put at the back of the main building. Those rooms felt run down and grotty, with carpets and décor that badly need updating. The website photos had impressed us, but the stay didn’t match them. With more care this could be a lovely place, but our experience fell well short of what the website suggested.

Breakfast was nicely presented and cooked well, thank you James. The staff were great, and check-in was easy. We booked at short notice for New Year’s Eve 2025, and the room at the back of the building worked perfectly for us and our dog. There were no evening meals available, but we’d eaten before arriving. We’ll be back to this lovely part of the Cotswolds.

Breakfast was a highlight, with cereal, yogurts, juice, fruit, toast, jams and a full English. The hot food was cooked to order, so it arrived hot. The staff were lovely and helpful. We didn’t eat at the hotel, though I believe they’re now starting theme nights. We had a lovely stay, and the location was great for visiting the Cotswolds wild life park. Our three family rooms were a short walk from the main hotel, which made it convenient to bring in our luggage. The twin shower room was in the main hotel.

Ally even arranged a minibus to and from the wedding venue, and checked we were happy before seeing us off for the day. She and Ky were amazing, so friendly and welcoming, and went above and beyond. Breakfast was lovely, with everything from juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurts to a full cooked English. Our room was clean and just right, with comfy beds, tea, coffee, water and biscuits, plus an iron, ironing board and hairdryer. We were staying for a midweek wedding near the vines. Thanks again, Ally and Ky, you were great xxx. We hope to return when the weather gets better.

James, the general manager, was friendly and attentive, and the bar downstairs was cosy and lovely. The included breakfast was tasty and well cooked. We had a pleasant weekend stay: the bed was very comfortable and the room spotless, with tea, coffee, water and biscuits provided. There were fresh towels, shampoo and body wash too. Thanks for having us!
