The Lismore Hotel

That’s a brilliant building, and the welcome was lovely. I was shown to my room and told where everything was. There’s even a fridge of my own for my oat milk. This place deserves all five stars and is worth every pound for the accommodation. I’ll absolutely be back.

The bed was fairly comfortable and the location was good. For £75 a night, the room was just about acceptable. The receptionist was friendly and warm, though often absent. The big problem was a strong cigarette smell that gave me a headache. When I asked about moving rooms, the receptionist sprayed air freshener and opened the window instead. We were on a main road, so cars woke us now and then, and the mini fridge made a noise every hour that kept waking me too.

The beds creak, the place feels pretty depressing, and the staff are poor at customer service. The car might have been a more comfortable place to sleep. Update: The owner gave me an email address to get in touch, then didn’t reply. Our extended group visits friends in Banbury, and this hotel is now on the avoid list for everyone.

A terrible stay, I’d tell people to avoid this place. I showed clear proof of payment, including my receipt, but they ignored it and rudely told me to leave. The owner was disrespectful and unprofessional. After I was forced out and booked another hotel at the last minute, they cancelled my booking. I have the transaction record and receipts from the replacement hotel as evidence, and I’m happy to share them if anyone wants proof. I strongly advise against staying here.
