The menu and decor both feel carefully thought through, and the food is great. Banchory Lodge also has a beautiful setting and the service is consistently outstanding. Some businesses just get things right. Keep up the good work!

I've been coming to Banchory Lodge for nearly 10 years, but my last two visits were very disappointing. On this dinner visit, four of us shared three starters, chicken liver pâté, prawns and baked cheese. All were pretty average. There were no steaks, and we were told that was because it was New Year's Day. We ordered two steak pies and two burgers. The pies were basically stew with a square of pastry on top, rather than proper pies. The burgers were dry and had too much onion chutney. For dessert we shared three puddings, two brownies and one sticky toffee, and each came with only a teaspoon-sized amount of ice cream. They were average too. I also had to ask the manager twice for ice in my drink. For the prices, the food doesn't meet the standard I'd expect.

We celebrated my parents' golden wedding anniversary with a family lunch at Banchory Lodge. The food was fantastic and the staff looked after us well. Since my dad has trouble hearing, we were offered a private dining space, which was lovely. Highly recommend.

I stayed here for a wedding and it left me with a great memory. The rooms, food and setting were all great, and every member of staff was so helpful. The hotel manager has a top team. One of the best places I've stayed.
