Keeley, Caitlin and the whole team made our wedding feel completely stress-free, and we’re so grateful for their support. They were kind, approachable and attentive all the way through, while still being professional. Nothing seemed like too much trouble, and the day ran seamlessly. Upper House is beautiful, the rooms were pristine, and the food was amazing. We’d wholeheartedly recommend it as a wedding venue.

We had a great time, even if the weather could’ve been a bit warmer. The grounds are fantastic, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed, and it’s dog friendly, with friendly cats wandering around too. Prices are reasonable, so it won’t break the bank. I had the amazing prawn starter and a rump steak cooked just right. The place felt clean and friendly from the moment we turned into the driveway. We’d certainly recommend it, and Churnet Valley Railway is a nice experience to try too.

We’ve stayed at Upper House for the third year now, and it’s been fantastic each time. The location by the downs makes it easy to get out for relaxing walks in the lovely countryside. Staff are warm and friendly, and the breakfasts are excellent.

The Bridgewater room had amazing views, and we’d love to visit again someday. It’s a beautiful house in a peaceful setting with lovely grounds, and we got a warm welcome and introduction to the hotel. The room and bathroom were spotless. There was a good-sized TV, a kettle, plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate to choose from, plus biscuits, and the shower was great. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast, with delicious food made from very good quality ingredients.

We gathered as a family at this lovely situated hotel, and all had a good time. Staff were really friendly and accommodating, getting food and drink orders sorted quickly as people arrived. The facilities were great, and the five of us who stayed overnight found the rooms large and comfortable. No doubt we’ll use the hotel again.
