The food was exceptional, much better than at many of the so-called “Insta-fancy” restaurants we’d visited in the days before. The bar and restaurant space was outstanding too. The lobby gave me the feeling of being a lord in a grand castle, and each room and area had its own character. L’OSCAR is beautifully designed, and especially exquisite with its Christmas decorations. From the moment we arrived, we felt at ease. The staff were attentive and eager to help, while staying warm, discreet and genuinely friendly. That thoughtful, unobtrusive service was one of the highlights of our whole trip. A sincere thank you to the team for a wonderful, memorable stay. The only thing I’d add is a spa. That would make the experience perfect.

The complimentary carrot cake was the best I’ve ever tasted, moist, perfectly spiced and so comforting. The truffle sandwich also stayed with me long after the last bite. The other sandwiches felt refined but indulgent, including a seasonal Christmas-style turkey option. We were served two kinds of freshly baked scones with three luxurious accompaniments, making the afternoon tea feel especially generous. The blended teas were fragrant and balanced, and clearly made with expertise. Every part of the meal felt like edible art, with the dishes presented so thoughtfully. The golden, warm interiors added to the quiet luxury and festive atmosphere of the Christmas Afternoon Tea. It felt like a celebration of craft, artistry and hospitality, and I’d happily return. 24/12/2025

There’s underground parking about a four-minute walk away. The room was beautiful and well equipped, with a very well-stocked minibar and luxurious amenities. Toni on the door, everyone at the front desk and the lovely restaurant staff all gave outstanding service. Excellent hotel!

The evening turndown was special every night, and we’d find a little gift waiting on the pillow. Breakfast was amazing too, especially the granola, fresh berries and berry smoothie, along with smoked salmon on sourdough topped with crushed avocado. A lovely way to start the day. The hotel’s design kept surprising and delighting us at every turn. We learned it had once been a Baptist Church and was bombed during the war on the fourth floor, though you’d never know it now. Tony, our attendant, was friendly and efficient, and the front desk team were amazing. They deserve a glass of champagne. The bartender was Ukrainian, though I can’t remember his name. He was wonderful, handsome, and had a warm personality and a great smile. We had an amazing experience and will definitely be back.
