We found The Peacock by chance on the way to visit family and turned it into an impromptu date night. The Herald room felt roomy and cosy, with plenty of tea, coffee and treats. The shower was lovely and hot, the toiletries were a nice touch, and we slept really well in a comfortable bed with good bedding. Thursday quiz night had the bar very busy when we arrived, but we were greeted and checked in quickly. Breakfast was included and delicious: smashed avocado on sourdough toast and French toast with bacon and berries, enough to fill both of us up. Next time, we hope to get there early enough for tea time too.

We spent a night in Sycamore Cottage after enjoying a great Sunday lunch. The cottage was lovely, and the Christmas tree was a really nice touch. Breakfast at the Peacock was just as lovely. It's a wonderful place whether you're staying over or just stopping for food, and I'd happily recommend it.

We had a separate room for our daughter's wedding, and it was just right. The table was beautifully laid when we arrived. Harrison, our waiter, was polite, friendly and attentive, and a real credit to the team. The food was amazing too. I can't think of anything wrong with the place. Thank you to everyone.

We've stayed at The Peacock five times over the past few years, and every visit has been lovely. This time it was Barley Cottage, which was cute, cosy and warm. The food is excellent, and the quiz was really entertaining. What keeps bringing us back is the staff. The team changes, but they're always cheerful and helpful, mostly young people who work incredibly hard for the pub. They make it feel a cut above the rest. I'll certainly stay again and highly recommend it.

We went for Sunday lunch on 5/10/25, just the two of us. Two beef meals and two Cokes came to £60. The food was really good, made with quality ingredients, and the beef was pink. The venue was lovely and very clean, and all the staff were polite despite how busy it was. It was extremely crowded, though, with tables almost on top of each other and people queuing to be seated right behind us. I understand Sunday lunch can be a business's lifeblood, but with no bookings the whole visit felt rushed. The food arrived very quickly, but being served food before drinks wasn't great. At £60 for lunch, I expected a certain level of service. The atmosphere and service felt closer to McDonalds than a quality gastro pub. At those prices, the food alone wasn't enough to make it a good experience. A real shame.
