The people at the village social club were very friendly. At 4 castle terrace bowes, though, the settee needs cleaning and sits very low, something guests should be told about before booking. The fire door doesn’t seal properly and needs attention. It would also help to have more than four cups.

We’d come for a much-needed four-night break, but after sitting on the couch for about five minutes I started itching, and we knew we couldn’t stay. The place had stinking drains, neglected outdoor areas, broken flooring, shabby and unclean furnishings, dilapidated furniture, an unusable freezer and hairy kitchen utensils. That gives the picture, though there was more. The host ignored our concerns that evening and only offered to deep-clean in the morning. We had to book somewhere else. The host is now refusing to refund us, despite asking us to contact Sykes directly to arrange it. Shame on you, for so many reasons.
