Owl Cottage

There are walks into the lovely countryside and moors right from the doorstep, with plenty more in every direction or a short drive away. The village is friendly, with pubs, cafés and a great fish and chip shop. This was our second visit to Owl Cottage and it was just as good as before, spotless, warm, comfortable and thoughtfully done, with everything we needed. Claire and Mike were lovely hosts. We had a great time and will definitely return.

The only small gripe is the sandstone floor in the entrance hall feels cold under bare or stockinged feet, so a little rug could help. A small shoe rack might be useful too, though I know space is tight. The dogs may get priority, since there’s a drying kit for them! Otherwise, it’s a great place to stay, comfortable and well located, with everything catered for on arrival. The furnishings and kitchen equipment are high quality, it’s easy to settle in, and the guide is very comprehensive.

The hosts were so helpful and full of useful information, and they’d thought of everything. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and well maintained, with everything we needed. It made a wonderful cosy escape for two and our dog. There’s plenty to see and do in the countryside in any season, including the festive, pretty Christmas lights in Middleton. Annie the dog loved it too.

We spent four days at Owl Cottage at the end of April and had a wonderful time. It’s close to local attractions and a great base for walkers. The cottage has everything you could need, and the owners really go the extra mile to make the stay memorable.
