The Whistle And Flute

After a seven-mile walk on a sunny day, we came in for a drink and a light lunch. The lunch menu had a good selection, including a Monday-to-Saturday special of two courses for £12.50. We took a chance on the soup of the day without asking what it was, and the pea and ham soup with crusty bread was superb. The haddock and chips and chicken schnitzel were both perfectly cooked and very fresh. I didn't get photos because my phone had died on the walk, but visitors won't regret stopping here. The portions on the two- or three-course menu were smaller than the huge mains we saw others order, which looked superb too. We'll definitely visit again and try more of the menu. We didn't stay, so I can't comment on the rooms.

This was our second meal here in the last few weeks, and we plan to book again very soon. The food was beautifully fresh and served piping hot, with excellent, friendly service. Thanks for a lovely evening. Highly recommended.

A really nice place to stop, with nothing to moan about. Room 11 was pretty basic but clean, and the shower was great. The pub serves excellent food and drink, and the staff were great. There was loads of free parking right in front. Excellent find.
