The pool was good, and the spa and gym looked like they would be nice to use. We also had breakfast, which was fine. The staff were welcoming and really helpful, and the room was clean with everything working. The bathroom looked straight out of the seventies, and the hotel is a little tatty round the edges, but it's not expensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. There was a noisy party on both nights, but from our room two floors up, we couldn't hear it. That's better than at some places where you hear everything. Good value, and I'd stay again.

The bedroom was spacious, clean, and pleasant, and breakfast had a great selection and was excellent quality. At breakfast, the staff noticed our walking sticks and kindly carried our pots of tea to the table. Everyone was helpful and polite. We came for a Groupon break our son and daughter-in-law gave us for Christmas, and enjoyed every minute. When we were leaving, a foot of snow covered the car park, which looked worrying, but everyone pitched in and cleared a path so we could get out. A perfect break, thanks to the lovely, helpful staff. We'll certainly visit again. Best regards, Pauline & Malcolm Inglis, Saturday 23rd March 2013.
