They were helpful when we realized we'd booked the wrong room, moving us to one that suited our accessibility needs. The bar was pleasant, the staff friendly, and we didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. A towel was missing; they said they'd bring one, but it never came. What happened with parking after we got home overshadowed what had started as a good stay. The manager directed us to enter our registration at reception for free parking. Despite doing that, Horizon Parking sent us two fines of £100 each, one for each day of our two-day stay. They said the amount would drop to £60 per day if paid within 14 days. We appealed straight away, but they rejected it, saying there was no record of our registration being entered each day. They offered instead to settle it for £15 each. We chose to pay £30 and seek an independent arbitrator. The stress and unfairness of it were severe, especially for my disabled wife, and spoiled a lovely trip to celebrate our great granddaughter’s 7th birthday. We won't stay again on our next visit. Premier Inn needs to make sure the equipment works properly. We must be on the reception CCTV entering our details, but pursuing it further is too stressful. Just be warned.

We chose this for its location near Dearne Valley RSPB country park, and the stay was fantastic. Everyone was helpful and the service was great, with nothing too much trouble. Katie in the bar restaurant deserves a special mention for her wonderful customer care and funny, engaging way with everyone. She made it our favourite Premier Inn stay ever. Other guests said it was the best Premier Inn too.

We stopped here last night on the way to Sunderland and arrived at 10:30pm. The receptionist was very welcoming and even switched the bar lights back on so we could have a quick drink before bed. We felt looked after, and nothing was too much trouble. We'd definitely stay again.

The staff were great and the Premier Inn itself was just what we needed. The location is a bit odd, beside a big food factory. My only real gripe was the dining room temperature. It was boiling, with the air conditioning pumping out heat.

Paul the manager went out of his way to help. He was dealing with people who hadn't paid for breakfast and were set on getting it free, but still found me some hot chocolate from his own stash. Our room was lovely and warm, and the Plus room was worth the extra cost. We had a good meal in the “social” the night before. The hotel was full, yet it was really quiet. Big shout-out to the staff.
