Apartments Wales

Everything had been thought through, right down to the fresh milk and tea and coffee. The apartment was tidy, clean, and equipped for either a short visit or a longer stay. Keith welcomed us in person, showed us around thoroughly, and filled us in on the area. We'd happily recommend it to anyone staying nearby.

The downstairs flat is our favourite. It's a good size for a couple or someone travelling alone, reasonably priced, clean, and well equipped. There's a dining space, lounge, big TV, a comfortable double bed, ceiling fan, decent shower, and a kitchen for small meals. The wood burner costs extra. We even found a little bottle of red wine on our last visit. Keith makes booking easy, and Tracey is always there with the keys and a few forms, which takes about five minutes. After that, the time is yours. One Stop is down the road for wine and dessert, there are plenty of places to eat nearby, and Trinity Street is just a short walk for Gavin and Stacey fans. I've spent nearly 18 months in nearby St. Athan, and Barry was a comforting place for everyday needs. It also means a lot to me because I spent so much time there with my girlfriend, now my fiancée. The beach, walks, Barry Island, the amusements, and Apartment Wales, Barry are all tied to good memories. We've stayed here several times and tried all but one of the apartments. I don't have shares in Apartment Wales, it just brings back great memories. I can't rate it highly enough, and when I come back to Barry, I know where I'll stay. Hope your time there is as good as ours was.

The listing said the apartment slept up to five, so I booked it. Afterward, Mr Spence contacted me without me asking and said I'd only booked for two. That sounded reasonable at first, but I checked other dates and changing the guest count didn't affect the price. It felt like a rip-off. Booking.com was completely useless and unhelpful, and didn't seem interested. Booking through them was a huge mistake. Their bookings have been disappointing lately, and this was the worst of it.

It felt like a home away from home, and we gave it 10/10. The location was spot on: the train is only two blocks away, the bus stop is under a minute away, and there was free parking right outside.
