Holiday Inn Express Cardiff Airport by IHG

The evening restaurant menu is very limited, so we drove out to eat. There are a few places nearby. Still, for two weeks of parking and an overnight B&B, it was well worth the price. We stayed before a morning flight and it’s excellent for Cardiff airport. The staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms clean and spacious, and the bed was comfy with a great shower. The shuttle took us to the airport and was waiting across from departures when we got back. We parked in the long stay area, took our keys, then drove off when we returned. The bar had good service and reasonable prices, and breakfast was plentiful, more than adequate.

For £90, the room, breakfast and a week of bay parking is very good value. The bar prices did feel a little harsh on the pocket, though. The room was fresh, clean and well presented, with towels, clean bedding, a choice of soft or firm pillow, plus a kettle, cups, tea bags and coffee. Staff were welcoming, professional and proactive. The lounge was kept tidy, with staff regularly cleaning tables, straightening seats and sorting menus. We came to rest before flying the next day, and we’ll be booking the same again very soon. Great work.

The location is great for the airport, and there are two pubs close by, the fontegary inn and the highway man, both excellent for food. We’ve stayed here many times before flying, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but have what you need and are consistently very clean. There isn’t much menu variety, but we’ve always had a good meal. Breakfast is basic too, though enough for my husband and me.

We’ve stayed here many times and usually enjoyed it, but this visit was disappointing because several small problems piled up. The sofa bed was broken, and its slats had been taped with masking tape. Even though we arrived midweek, several dishes on the already limited menu weren’t available. Our room wasn’t fully clean and didn’t have enough towels. The air conditioning made a constant, very noisy sound even when switched off. We were told trapped gas was the cause and nothing could be done. I’d ordered extra pillows before arrival, but they weren’t in the room. I had to ask three more times, and they took three hours to arrive. I don’t know why they couldn’t have come with the missing towels. The staff were friendly and efficient.
