The George Inn

We went back to the George last night after nearly seven years, having first been drawn there by the dog menu. We were with a different pair of dogs this time, and the meal was superb. The pub was fairly busy, but we got a table in the bar with our two dog girls, next to another party with a dog, so we had a nice chat about dogs. The food was delicious, possibly among the best pub food we can remember, and the Brussels sprouts were out of this world. Our dogs usually don’t like eating in public, but they wolfed down their sausage and mash and all-day breakfast. The prices felt about right, too.

We had a lovely room with an ensuite and a fantastically comfortable Queen size bed. The staff were professional, the homemade food was great, and breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. Everything was good quality and good value. We’d gladly stay at The George Inn again and highly recommend it. Thank you.

The food is consistently excellent, and the staff are genuinely lovely. As someone with coeliac disease, I appreciate that there’s always a great choice of gluten-free starters, mains and desserts. It makes eating out feel easy instead of stressful. I live in London now, but whenever I’m back to visit my parents, this is a must for lunch or dinner. Most recently, we came for my dad’s birthday on the 22nd. A family favourite, thank you ❤️

We didn’t stay in a room, so I can’t comment on those. The meal was lovely and the food amazing. The wait and bar staff were friendly, welcoming, smiley and attentive. It was relaxed and calm even though the restaurant was fairly busy.
