Bath Boating Station

The boat was clean and well looked after, and everyone on staff was friendly, even though we arrived late. We’d booked online the night before and got a confirmation. It was a lovely Sunday in August, though my family weren’t very good at punting. We mostly had no idea what we were doing and ended up rowing together for half the trip, with a few trees along the way. It still made for a fun afternoon, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

The river was so peaceful, with greenery all around and the occasional swan joining us. It felt like stepping into a fairy tale for a while, a lovely break from everyday life. My family and I had a brilliant time rowing, and we’re already thinking about coming back for three days of it. The team were welcoming and accommodating, and their advice was clear and funny. They were patient with us, especially when our daughter wanted to play with Mimi the dog, and kept things light even when we were rowing backwards. If you’re in Bath, make time for this. We’d gladly do it again.

We stayed at Toad Hall for three nights and really wished we could have stayed longer. The river view was beautiful, and Bath high street was a 12-minute walk away. A couple of mornings we also took the free boat, which dropped us at Pulteney weir. The location was perfect.

Such a fun experience, and I’d highly recommend visiting. The staff were so kind and friendly. My phone fell into the river, and one of them went into the water to get it back for me. I appreciated that so much.
