The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa

We had a brilliant surprise one-night stay with my wife, and I only wish it had been longer. The hotel and its amenities were outstanding. Dillon helped with our bags, Ronnie gave us excellent service and showed us to the room, and Chloe kindly helped rearrange our dinner reservations. It was also nice to talk with Clara the manager. Patricia took great care of my wife and me at breakfast. The one letdown was that staff couldn’t add my wife’s Hyatt membership number to our stay.

The massages were really, really good, but the rest of the spa day was extremely disappointing for the price. At every stage, from concierge to front desk to restaurant, staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and made us feel like our presence was a nuisance. The location may be a big draw for tourists, and the traditional English afternoon tea may appeal to them, but I found it underwhelming. We were given spa times and had lunch booked for 12:30, but the spa is so tiny that I don’t know how we were expected to fill 90 minutes. There was no flexibility about food or drink, and we were told not to show up early. A lot of money for the location, I guess.

We stayed at the Royal Crescent for our anniversary and to celebrate finishing the Cotswold Way. From beginning to end, it was a five-star experience. The service was impeccable, and our room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for a more luxurious stay. I’d definitely go back, though I didn’t want to leave.

The room was spacious, thoughtfully equipped, and wonderfully peaceful, with a bed and bedding that felt so luxurious. I felt thoroughly spoiled from the moment I arrived until I left. The staff were warm every time we crossed paths, and the grounds were gorgeous. Even the little touches stood out, like the name placard on the door and the beautifully arranged gifts on the bed. Breakfast was lovely and the cocktails were spot on. You can walk everywhere, though the way back is uphill, so we just used Uber. Go have your own Bridgerton moment. You deserve it. 6/5 all day long!
