The dining room was full, but it still had such a lovely atmosphere, and we were served promptly by really friendly staff. We ate so well, every bite was a pleasure. What a wonderful pub. I wish our village locals were like this, cosy and tasteful places to eat, drink and chat. Highly recommended.

The different bar areas all have their own feel, so it’s easy to move around depending on your mood. They’re dog friendly too. We had a great two night weekend break, with a spacious, spotless room and a modern, clean bathroom. The shower was powerful and properly hot. Staff made us feel very welcome. A great place to stay while visiting beautiful Beaumaris or exploring Anglesey. We’d gladly stay again.

We picked the Bull for a New Year trip to Anglesey because it welcomes dogs. Our room was across the courtyard and easy to reach, and the New Year menu made for a lively time. Breakfast was cooked fresh, with the continental options available as well. There’s also a hotel scheme where, on stays of two nights or more, you can skip room service and claim a free drink, which saves resources.

The pork on my small plate Sunday lunch was an absolute taste sensation, so many different flavours. The four of us went for Sunday dinner today, and it was also my husband’s first time out in his wheelchair since his stroke. The staff showed such empathy and helpfulness, going above and beyond. I didn’t enjoy my baked Alaska because the sponge was rock hard, though my sister in law had the same and said hers was moist. Even so, I’m so glad we went. The atmosphere was fantastic and we got good value for money.

The rhubarb and ginger crumble was very nice, though the ginger overpowered everything else. The starters felt pricey, £8.50 for three meatballs, even if they were nice, is steep. My lamb pie had no hint of the mint listed on the menu. We also had menu items unavailable, and someone else’s food was brought to our table. We’ve often eaten at the Bulls Head when visiting Anglesey, but this was our first visit since the independently owned inn was taken over by a chain, and the difference is glaring. Table service has gone in favour of ordering at the bar, Wetherspoons style. The local seafood specials are a thing of the past, as are the local gin selections, replaced by generic mass produced products. The food was good but could have been better balanced and executed, and the pleasant service was a bit sloppy at times. Hoping things improve for our next visit. Paul M.
