Belfast International Youth Hostel

It's close to the city, with the sights within walking distance, and buses for Giant's Causeway tours leave from nearby. The building and rooms were clean and nice, and you can help yourself to free coffee or tea. I found it great for travelling alone or as a pair, and the price was really good for what you get. One of the best hostels I've stayed in. :)

The location is great, but the room quality let us down. Our four-person room had just two power outlets, and the soundproofing was poor. The floor was dirty, too, and it looked like the rubbish was only taken out once a week.

The toilets and showers were dirty and smelled of urine, and the rooms weren't great either. The women at the front desk were shockingly rude, and I can't overstate that. My key card battery died in the middle of the night, leaving me locked in the hallway, with no apology from staff. Phil at reception was nice on my last day, but the other women were incredibly rude.

The mattress was okay, but the beds themselves weren't good. Some had loose guardrails, and there were stains that looked pretty questionable. There weren't many showers or toilets either. My group called the strange shower-toilet combo a “shoilet”; it didn't even have a sink. The other toilets did have sinks, but the water came out incredibly hot. It'll get you through the night, but that's about it.
