We spent three nights in room 401 to see a friend and visit Titanic Exhibition. It was quiet and clean, conveniently near the stairs and lift, and had an easy-to-use shower with body and shower products. Breakfast was worth the £12.50 when booked online: a good choice of cooked food, cereal, fruit and more, with a coffee machine and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The buffet eggs were scrambled, but the friendly chef said you could ask for fried eggs when it wasn’t busy. The location worked well for us. Botanic Gardens and the train station are close, most of central Belfast is walkable, and it took me 35 mins to walk to Titanic Exhibition. The bar stays open until 3am for residents. The service was excellent. Rebecca, the knowledgeable and helpful manager, is a real credit to the Accor Ibis portfolio. Saoirse on reception was friendly and got my apple laptop connected to the WiFi after sorting out a settings issue. Tony from electrics was chatty and good craic. Just two small annoyances: the WiFi dropped out sometimes, and there were no plug sockets by the bed in room 401. If you want to charge your phone and set an alarm, a long lead could help, though you’d have to get up to turn it off. Other rooms may have bedside sockets. All in all, a convenient and pleasant stay.

The staff were lovely throughout, warm, helpful and pleasantly chatty. I’ve no complaints about them. The trouble was with the room equipment and towels. The AC wouldn’t respond properly to the wall remote. It kept blowing cold air or switching to standby, then after about 15 min it started blowing hot air by itself. I’d already called reception, and they said they’d made the necessary adjustment in the system. It was okay for a while, but when I went to sleep the lights wouldn’t turn off. I tried every switch, but the bedside lights stayed on. Eventually I pulled the power card out of its slot, which turned the lights off but also shut down the AC. I’d been cold all night and wanted to leave it running while I slept, but had to choose between the lights and the AC. The towels smelled strongly of damp clothes and maybe bleach, hard to describe. I could smell it on myself after drying off. Reception kindly gave me fresh ones, but they still smelled, just less.

My partner and I had a great stay. The food was stellar, the rooms were comfortable and great, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was nice and convenient too. We’d definitely stay again.

We were visiting our son at Queens University and stayed for a few days. The hotel was close to the university and within walking distance of the city centre, which made the location ideal. Our room was clean, with plenty of storage and a comfy bed. The bathroom had an excellent shower, and breakfast had both cooked and continental choices, plus an excellent coffee machine. We’d definitely stay again.

The meals were a real highlight, both breakfast and dinner were delicious, easily 10/10, and Badul looked after us so well while we ate. Erika was lovely and made us feel welcome from the start. We had a great stay at the Ibis Hotel, with a neat, clean, comfortable room and really good service. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.
