Phil at the front desk was especially helpful and professional, and he was ready to assist however he could. I can see him as the next General Manager for the Hastings brand. The whole hotel team was helpful from check in to check out, and everyone seemed keen to make us feel at home. A really amazing hotel with very friendly staff.

My parents went for afternoon tea this past Saturday and haven't stopped talking about it. They've had lots of afternoon teas over the years and said yours was the best, which is high praise. They also had a chat with the very accommodating manager Eamonn and felt so welcome from him and all the staff.

We spent the afternoon in the large foyer area for my sister-in-law’s 70th birthday tea, and it was a very pleasant spot. There were six of us, and the food was tasty, plentiful, and nicely presented. The staff kept refilling our teapot whenever needed. A second pot would have saved them having to refill the one we had so often. We'd happily recommend this place for afternoon tea.

Dessert was a real highlight, with loads to choose from. The pavlova was especially good, the best I've ever tasted. We booked the Sunday Carvery after it kept appearing on my socials, and it didn't disappoint. A gentleman greeted us at the ballroom entrance, showed us to our table, and explained where the courses were, since it was our first visit. Someone came by shortly after to take our drinks order. The starters were beautifully laid out near the middle of the room, with lots of different options. Turkey, ham, and roast beef were along the far wall, with soup, breads, and a children's section to the left. The meat was lovely and not dry at all. My main complaint was that the food was barely lukewarm, and the gravy was barely warm too. I understand too much heat could dry the food out, but hotter gravy would have helped. It didn't spoil the visit, though hot gravy with the lukewarm meal would have been nicer. The staff were very polite, welcoming, and attentive. They cleared dirty plates promptly and made sure drinks were topped up. A lovely experience, and I'd pay for it again.
