The pub may look a little scruffy and basic, but the friendly, helpful staff and amazing Sunday roast more than made up for that. Seven vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and loads of gravy, all for what’s probably one of the cheapest roasts around these days. Definitely a case of not judging by appearances.

Since my last visit, the place has changed, and I think it’s better now. There are two pool tables and a dartboard, while the bar area is smaller. The menu is still short, which I liked, and Sky Sports is on around the pub for anyone who’s into sports.

Pool, happy hour, great staff and friendly locals, I spent most of the day in here and loved it. The bacon sandwich was top notch too. Definitely coming back next time I’m on the island.

After a while away, we decided to give Sunday lunch a go and were so glad we did. We had our two dogs with us, and they’d made sure we had extra space. The beef roast was cooked and presented beautifully, and with a local beer it was a perfect end to a beach walk. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, professional service and attentive staff. I’d happily recommend it and hope to return soon.

The shower room was nice and clean, and I slept brilliantly in a bed fit for a queen. No peas to be felt in that one. Shame I didn’t have my prince there to share it with.
