The room had a lovely view, the shower pressure was excellent, the staff were friendly, and we enjoyed dinner on our second night. There are good things here, but two nights of poor sleep and little effort to sort out problems overshadowed them. Room 5 had a big floodlight outside the window. Even with the blinds down, light came in around the edges and made the room much too bright. Around midnight an alarm rang for about ten minutes, paused briefly, then started again. I went to reception, but no one was there. The doors also creak and squeak so loudly that we could hear them from our room. I told reception about the blinds the next morning and asked if anything could be done, but nothing seemed to change. Breakfast the second morning was okay, though the coffee was a let-down. We were told the gas hob wasn't working, so choices were limited, and the coffee was instant. They said proper coffee wasn't possible because they were short staffed. After two bad nights, that really wasn't ideal. There's a lot to like, including the food, views, staff and strong shower, but when something goes wrong, the response needs to be more practical. At the moment, problems seem to be accepted instead of fixed.

Dinner was excellent, especially the Balmoral chicken. The staff were friendly, and our room was spotless, comfortable and had a great view. It got insanely hot in the bathroom, though. That wouldn't stop us from coming back, and we had a lovely stay.

We ate at the Oyster Inn both nights, and the menu had plenty of variety. The food was outstanding. The cozy bar was warm and comfortable, the staff went above and beyond, and our rooms were spotless and well equipped. My wife and I stayed in November and were really impressed by how welcoming and comfortable everything felt. We can't recommend it enough, and we'll be back.

Our evening meal and breakfast were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. We met up with family for one night between Christmas and New Year, and The Oyster Inn had two ground-floor rooms that were easy to access. They were just right and had everything we needed. A huge thank you to the whole staff team, you're fabulous. 10/10 from us.

The Glue Pot Bar is a cozy, friendly place with a good range of drinks, and just right for unwinding after a day out. It's one of the things that makes this hotel feel special. We also love the warm atmosphere, the food, and the fair prices for the quality. We've been to The Oyster Hotel four or five times this year, and every stay has been great. The four-hour drive is worth it each time. Peter, the manager, deserves a special mention. He's friendly and professional, always goes above and beyond, and nothing seems too much trouble. We travel a lot and have stayed in plenty of hotels, but he's the best manager we've come across. We're gutted to hear that dogs won't be allowed next year under the new ownership. That was a big part of why it suited us so well. Still, we're grateful for all the wonderful memories. This place will always mean a lot to us. ❤️🐾
