We came for an early lunch on a grey, cold February afternoon. The pub was fairly busy but not overcrowded, which was nice. My partner and I shared prawn toast to start, and it was phenomenal, with a generous serving of big, juicy prawns and a fantastic Asian-style jus. Our mains were great too, especially the incredible onion rings. We finished by sharing a very generous portion of banoffee cheesecake. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The young brunette woman who seated us was a joy. We were only in Wales for a short break, but if The Nags Head were closer to home, we’d be regulars. It’s brilliant value, and it’s a pleasure to support an independent pub like this.

We booked for Sunday lunch just before Christmas and came away very happy. Our group had turkey dinners, a mixed meat platter, a small platter, fish and chips, and a veggie option. The meat was plentiful and divine, and the gravy was the best I’ve ever tasted. The fish and chips portion was huge too, about the size of a small child. We tried a few desserts, and the lemon and lime cheesecake stood out. The portions are big, so it’s a little expensive: 19.95 for the lunch and £24.95 for the platter. But you do get a lot, and the £3.95 cauliflower cheese is worth it. The cheese taste is rich and strong, and there’s enough for four people, or two big eaters.

The nut roast was the surprise for me. I’ve been let down by mushy ones elsewhere, but this was full of flavor and brought back my faith in nut roasts. My Dad and husband both enjoyed their roast beef too, saying it was tender and tasty. The staff were really friendly, service was quick, and everything was delicious. Well done, Chef. We’ll be back, and I’d happily recommend it.

The Nags Head is a lovely place, and the staff were efficient and professional. We came in for Sunday lunch, not to stay, and both chose the roast beef. It came out quickly, cooked well, and the portions were generous. The beef was tender and tasty. We’ll visit again, highly recommended.

That garlic roasted veg under the roast beef was delicious, and the beef was so tender it melted in your mouth. They handled gluten-free food confidently, even making cauliflower cheese gluten free, which is hard to find. Best Sunday lunch we’ve had this weekend.
