Abbotsford B&B

The hosts, Sandy and Sheila, made us feel so welcome. They know the local area inside out and are happy to help with places to visit and things to do. The rooms are spotless and well equipped, with little fridges, and the free wifi is strong throughout. Breakfast was generous, delicious and had plenty of choices, just right before a day out walking or sightseeing. Norham, which was meant to be just our base for a Northumberland holiday, ended up being one of the trip’s highlights. The B&B is a minute’s walk from St Cuthberts, the lovely village church, and less than five minutes from the River Tweed. I walked the clear riverside path every day and spotted loads of wildlife, including warblers, egrets and buzzards. This was my second stay in recent years, and it was just as good as the first, in 2021. I really can’t recommend it highly enough, ten stars out of five! I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the area, if they have a room free. Thank you so much, Sheila and Sandy, for the wonderful hospitality and accommodation.

The breakfast was the best I’ve had in a long, long time. The night before, I’d had a great meal at the pub a few doors down, then slept brilliantly. When I arrived, Sheila greeted me at the door. What a lovely lady and a lovely home. The rooms were clean and comfortable, not new and corporate. After the paperwork, we were shown to our rooms. I use B&Bs from time to time, and honestly, this is the best one I’ve ever stayed at. Comfortable accommodation, an excellent host and great food.

We were cycling the Coast and Castles route, and it was clear cyclists are very welcome here. Sheila and Sandy run a lovely, welcoming place where we felt at home right away. Breakfast had a great selection, including homemade marmalade. If we’re nearby again, we’ll definitely stay.

We stayed with this lovely family in May 2018. It was great talking with them, and the accommodation was very nice. The bed was really good, the bathroom was awesome, and breakfast was delicious. They made it for the time we’d chosen the evening before. There was free wifi, and parking was no problem.
