Cara House

We were disappointed when we found out we were in room 3, which faced the side of another building. We had first been told we'd be in room 2, a more spacious room with a view of the town. Aside from that, room 3 was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Cara Lodge is less than a five-minute walk from the station and close to the town centre. We spent a couple of nights there.

The room was spacious, spotless and very quiet, with a bathtub as well as a separate shower. The guest house is really well located, close to the station and only minutes from central Berwick. It was low season, so service was limited, but Craig was helpful whenever I got in touch. They also kindly let me check out late without charging extra.

The room was a good size, clean and had a nice bathroom, and the location was great. But there were a few problems. The front security door was broken, so anyone could get in. We were told we could use the kitchen and put things in the fridge, but when we returned, it was locked. I messaged and called the number, but got no reply the whole time we were there. We had to keep our medication cold in the bathroom sink. Ironing facilities were listed too, but we couldn't get to them, so I had to go out and buy an iron. Buying one wasn't the issue. It would have helped to be told the facilities weren't available, or that we couldn't use the kitchen. We checked the kitchen several times over our two or three days there, and it was locked every time except when we left our things in the fridge. We had to leave those behind when we checked out. I'd stay here again, but these issues were frustrating.

A friendly little family run B&B in a great location. The host was super welcoming and knew plenty about the area. The accommodation is a bit dated, though perfectly comfortable. They serve a good full English breakfast to start the day.
