Breakfast was cooked fresh, with options for different appetites. Cereal and jams were self-serve, and they brought toast as we wanted it. Allison was a lovely, accommodating host, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Our sea-view room at the Roxburgh was clean and well kept, with a large shower, and we couldn't fault it. The surrounding area is lovely, with a kids' play area, a few bars and a cafe behind the hotel that stays open outside hotel hours. We took a leisurely walk into Berwick, about 30 minutes. Would highly recommend staying here.

Our weekend at the Roxburgh was brilliant. The room was lovely, and the breakfasts were delicious. Allison made us feel at home and couldn't do enough for us. We'd certainly recommend this guest house to everyone.

The hotel is right on the promenade, so it's well placed for the beach, with a couple of local pubs and a shop nearby. Big chain stores are a 10-minute walk or 2 minutes by car, and town is about 20 minutes on foot. The parking has plenty of space, though a reverse-parking policy might help cars manoeuvre when others are parked by the wall. It could also help avoid reversing onto the main road, where visibility is a bit limited by housing and parking, with the risk of kids running out of the hotel door. I'm usually with my wife and two dogs, but it isn't dog-friendly, which in a way is good as it keeps the place specific. If I come back alone or with friends, I'd happily stay again. We arrived late, but after a quick call the friendly host met us and knew the area well. The Farne room had three single beds, as I was meant to travel with friends to an event. The room was spot on, with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and chilled filtered water in the fridge. The beds were comfy, the toilet area was a good size, and they provided shampoo and wash gels. The shower was a bit of a pain, switching between very hot and cool, and took some fiddling to get comfortable. We didn't have breakfast, though it looked like they had everything you'd need. Keys for both doors let you come and go as you please and help keep unwanted people from coming in and out. A reverse-park setup in the car park could make manoeuvring easier.

The beach is just across the road, and it's peaceful at night. The owner was super friendly and full of tips on places to eat. We had lovely rooms and a great breakfast. It's about a half-hour walk from the centre of Berwick. Hope to come back!

Some rooms have a sea view, and the breakfast was excellent. This place is a hidden gem, beautifully decorated and furnished. The other guests we spoke to all love Roxbrough. Looking forward to coming back.
