Our room, Paxton, had lovely views, a very comfortable bed and was spotlessly tidy. Breakfast was outstanding, with homemade soda and wheaten bread and perfectly cooked food. We booked a couple of nights and felt like family as soon as we arrived. Robert sat us down with tea and cake, and the beautiful house is clearly the result of a lot of time and money spent making it luxurious. Berwick is within a 10-minute trip. A lovely stay, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you.

Robert made us feel welcome straight away with tea and cake, and he’s a fabulous, accommodating host who runs the place on his own. Our freshly cooked breakfast was high quality and made to order. We spent two nights here and will definitely return. It’s a lovely manor house, with spacious bedrooms, tasteful furnishings and a really comfortable, very large bed.

We wished we’d booked a longer stay, and we’ll certainly come back. Robert was a wonderful host who couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was lovely, with homemade bread and jams, plus locally sourced ingredients. Such a nice place to stay, highly recommended.

We loved the Garden House. The long views over the farm from the dining room’s French windows, the patio and the luxurious upstairs lounge made it easy to spend our holiday outdoors. There are two sets of garden tables and chairs, a play area for children, a washing line and private parking. Each of the three bedrooms has an ensuite, hot water was always plentiful, and the beds have excellent mattresses. There are televisions throughout, too. This is a spacious self-catering wing of a modern Georgian-esq manor house, larger than many whole homes. It’s maintained to a very high standard and feels fresh, welcoming and extremely comfortable. The Garden House has a five-star holiday rental assessment, and it’s easy to see why. Robert is a highly capable, attentive host who seems to anticipate what you need and keeps everything running smoothly. We left feeling rested, re-energised and pampered beyond what we’d expected, as though we’d been tucked away from the world. A rare find that stayed with us after the holiday, and we hope to return.
