Liz made us feel from the moment we arrived that our comfort and enjoyment mattered most. She was the star of the stay, giving her heart and soul right through to our departure. I’m grateful for the conversations we shared. Thanks, Liz x 😍 We spent 2 nights in room 1, the family room, and were very pleased with it. The beds were clean and comfortable, there was plenty of tea, coffee, water and biscuits, and the en-suite was fresh and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely. Peter and the front-of-house team were relaxed, friendly and attentive without pushing extra sales. Peter glides around like an elegant swan, quietly paddling away to keep a busy dinner service running smoothly. We were charmed by his hospitality and personality. Lovely accommodation, nice food and great people, a real gem of a place.

We liked dinner here so much that we came back for a second night. The food was delicious, the servings generous, and the atmosphere was great. Our host Peter and all the staff were lovely. We didn’t stay in the hotel, so I can’t comment on the rooms. A real gem!

We had a fantastic dinner, with perfectly cooked fish and a delicious warm citrus pudding for dessert. The older hotel is beautiful, with a bar and restaurant attached, and our host and the chef were warm and helpful. Our room was on an upper floor, which wasn’t ideal as one of us has mobility issues, but our host kindly carried our bags up and down. The quaint town, with its old church, nice cafes and a few shops, is minutes away, and the train station is an easy walk. Highly recommend!

We weren’t staying at the hotel, just came for dinner. The steak pie and rhubarb sponge cake were delicious, and the young service staff gave excellent attention to customers. The decor and space are charming. We hope to return in a couple of days!

We were staying at another local hotel, so I can’t say what the rooms are like. We came here for dinner and all four of our meals were nicely presented and tasted great. Lovely place for a meal.
