The shower pressure was low, and the bed and pillows had clearly seen a lot of use. The mattress felt hard, but I could still make out the shapes of where people had slept before. The pillows were bunched at the sides and flat in the middle. The shower didn't look pleasant either, see the pictures. I knew I'd booked a cheap stay and was fine with the shared bathroom and two showers. I was given room 9, which wasn't an issue. But when I texted as required on arrival, I got no greeting back, just “who are you?” It felt rude and left me wondering if I'd come to the wrong place or messaged the wrong number. They did send me the details afterwards.

The location close to Beverley town centre and the room's microwave, kettle and fridge are what earned the three stars. The fridge in my room wasn't switched on, and I didn't realise, so check it before putting anything in. It's very much budget accommodation, which is usually fine for the price, but my room was dirty. There were odd stains or drips on the walls, grubby carpets and someone else's hairball stuck to the shower wall. I can prove it wasn't mine, I have pink hair. The place needs attention.

The location worked really well, about a 10 minute walk to the town centre and right beside Beverley Minster. Parking was free with a permit from the host, with spaces across the road. The host communicated well and sent clear access instructions by text. The price for two nights was low. Inside, though, the place smelled awful, of stale cigarettes and weed. The building felt worn out and in need of a deep clean. Our family room looked tidy but wasn't really clean. The carpet was old and stained, the furniture wobbly and creaky, though the sheets were clean. In the bathroom there were broken tiles, a broken toilet seat and shower head holder, peeling, bubbling paint on the walls and ceiling, and an extractor fan that sounded like a swarm of bees. The water was hot and the pressure was decent enough. I could say more, but I'll leave it there. You get what you pay for, and I'd only suggest staying here if you're desperate and on a very tight budget. I won't book again.

The owner was wonderful and even moved me to a lower floor room because of my knees. That room was amazing, and she also brought me a fan when the room was too hot. There isn't a lift, so be ready for LOTS of stairs. I was in room 9 at the top of the house, and the bed wasn't comfortable.

We had a spacious, clean large double with a comfortable bed and good WiFi. Getting in was easy, the owners communicated well, and parking on the street was simple. It's a great location for an easy walk into Beverley. Some of the decor is a bit tatty, but for a one night stay it was hard to fault. We'll definitely come back.
