Normandy

The breakfast was lovely, and the staff were great. But the rooms are cramped, with nowhere to put your things if you're there for more than a short stay. The bathroom work is pretty poor, and the shower temperature swings between scalding and lukewarm. The place could use a refurbishment.

The airport is only minutes away, and I found out they offer parking and transport for much less than anywhere else I've seen. I'd use that for a future flight stay. The bar and reception area were decent, and breakfast was a well-stocked self-serve buffet with a full Scottish selection. Drinks cost a bit, as you'd expect when you're a captive audience, but weren't outrageous. I stayed one night for a birthday party in one of the suites. My room was on the small side, but had what I needed for a short stay: a bed, desk, pull-out bench, wardrobe and ensuite. It was clean, though the bathroom could do with a refresh. It's not quite the premier inn, but close enough, and I'd return.

The staff were friendly, and the car park deal worked out well while travelling abroad. The room itself was really bad. In the morning I found that none of the plugs worked, so I couldn't use a hair dryer or charge my phone. The TV looked about 17-20 inches. There was a bathroom mirror in the room?

The staff were fab and couldn't do enough. I stayed in a refurbished room, though the crack and chip in the sink were disappointing. At least the bed was really comfy. The Christmas party food was mostly awful, so take snacks if you're going. Soup was fine and pudding OK, but the chicken was tough and dry, and the veg were awful. I'll be back next Christmas and might recommend the hotel to someone staying nearby.
