The Fox Inn was warm and cosy, with the fire going and a lovely country feel. Even though it's a small pub, we had the privacy we wanted for a birthday meal with my in-laws, my husband and our two children, aged 4 and 7. The locals were welcoming too. I'd booked ahead, knowing we'd be walking to the souldern viaduct before lunch. The food was a 10/10: lots of choice, nicely presented, hot, and brought out in good time. When we ordered, the server asked whether the children's meals should come first. That small touch meant we all finished around the same time and could enjoy dessert together, which made the family meal much nicer. The chap serving us was attentive with drinks and cleared plates promptly, without hovering. The price was very reasonable, and we'd be glad to come back.

A friendly landlord, a good choice of drinks, and a lovely village pub. We stopped for sandwiches at lunch, and they were delicious and packed with good ingredients. It feels like a proper locals' place, but the food's good enough to make a detour for. They don't have low or zero beer on draught yet, just bottles and such. We'll go again.

We had a lovely early Christmas meal at The Fox Inn with our group of 15, who'd come from all over England. Manager John was accommodating while we arranged everything over the preceding weeks. On the day, we had a pretty room of our own off the main bar, with a long table set up for everyone and crackers. Some of us were more than 30 minutes late, but the food still came out hot and cooked just right. I especially recommend the mushroom stroganoff and cheesecake. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we never had to wait for anything. It's a cosy little local pub and restaurant with a great atmosphere. I couldn't recommend it more.

The host was warm and welcoming when I met a couple of friends at this little gem on Thursday. There's a great menu, and the sea bass I chose was delicious.
