The location on Fort William's High Street makes this Travelodge worth the somewhat higher price. The staff were friendly, and the basic rooms were very clean and comfortable. There aren't any places to eat at the hotel itself, but plenty of excellent cafés and restaurants are just a stone's throw away, so it isn't really a problem.

The bed was incredibly comfy, and the room was quiet, with temperature controls that were easy to adjust. It had everything needed for a good night's sleep. The outside looks dated, but inside the room was modern and spotlessly clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I wasn't expecting much and came away really impressed. It's a Travelodge, but a good one in a brilliant location.

The internet was a mess: you get 30 minutes free each day, then pay £3.50 for 24 hours of painfully slow service. It took more than five minutes to download one app. The room was a budget nightmare and looked nothing like the online photos, unless they were taken in another reality. The TV was barely bigger than an iPad, the bed felt like a brick trampoline, and the décor looked like they'd given up. When I arrived, the front desk was empty. I stood there for over 15 minutes waiting for someone to answer the “ring for service” button, which seemed to be there just for show. This place easily makes my top 3 worst hotels of all time. If disappointment, discomfort, and prehistoric internet are what you're after, this Travelodge delivers in spades. Otherwise, stay anywhere else, even your car would be a step up. I recommend the Marriott chain.

I've stayed in other chains that weren't as good as this place. The family room I'm in is very good, and I'm impressed. Well done! I booked three rooms through the app and spent five nights here. All of the rooms were good and comfortable, the whole place was very clean, and the staff were good. UPDATE 20250108: Still as good. They have robot Hoover's running, and they're excellent at cleaning the edges. The corner room they gave me has two windows around the corner. There are likely to be two rooms like this, and they're very spacious. I'll post photos shortly.
