Everything else was acceptable, nothing fancy but fine, but the heavy cigarette smell really affected how comfortable we felt and how well we slept. We noticed it as soon as we entered, in the bedding and curtains as well as in the air. For a non-smoking room, it was disappointing and seemed not to have been properly deodorized or deep cleaned. The owners never responded.

After paying in advance, I asked Stratton Cottage for a complete refund because changes to my work schedule meant I needed to move my stay to March 2026. I contacted them weeks before the original booking and sent eight messages, but never got a reply to any of them. I’d booked through Booking and considered changing the dates my right. They kept all my money and ignored my polite messages. This is not acceptable.

Modern, clean rooms. Excellent stay, and I’ll definitely come back.

We left after two minutes and are still trying to get a refund. The room was dirty and smelled of cigarettes despite being advertised as non-smoking. The duvet cover was stained, and the toilet hadn’t been flushed. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.

I had to spend about an hour finding another hotel for New Year’s Eve after seeing the state of this room. When I opened the door, the handle nearly came off in my hand. There were hairs in the sink, marks on the walls and dust everywhere. The cleanliness and maintenance were well below an acceptable standard, and the disruption spoiled what should have been a pleasant celebration. I can’t recommend this place based on my experience. I hope they take this feedback on board.
