Mercure Bradford, Bankfield Hotel

We’d read plenty of one-star reviews before going, but found it fine and would certainly come back. It’s an old, characterful place that could use some renovation, though it was quiet and great value. The large room had a very large bed, there’s a big free car park, and the grounds are nice. Staff were friendly too. Breakfast was nothing special, just the usual UK chain hotel fare.

Dee made the stay such a pleasure. He’s warm, patient and genuinely caring, and always seems ready to help so everyone feels comfortable. His planning and attention to detail keep things well organised and running smoothly. You can tell he takes pride in hosting, and that comes through in the experience. I’d happily recommend staying with Dee.

Amin’s friendliness and attentiveness made us feel right at home during our recent stay at the Mercure Hotel in Bradford. We also had a really funny time with the pool table, which gave the visit a memorable little extra. We’re grateful to Amin and the team for such a warm welcome and a lovely stay. We’ll look forward to visiting again and will recommend the hotel to friends and family.

The building is lovely, and we really liked the bar. Staff were welcoming and friendly the whole time. Our room was spacious, had a lovely view and plenty of heating, though the stairway entrance was uncomfortably hot. The price felt acceptable, but a little more care with the details would have made it better value. There were enough clean towels, but one towel in the room on arrival was dirty. After our first night, the towels had been changed but the beds weren’t made and the coffee hadn’t been topped up. The toilet flush was very loud and didn’t work properly. Reception is right beside the busy bar, so the noise made check-in and asking questions a bit difficult.
