For £29, this was a cheap, no-frills place for the one night I needed. The room was very small, but the bed was clean and comfortable, and there was a TV, kettle and even a microwave. It's about 10 minutes from BHX on the regular X1 or X21 bus from across the road. The same buses go to Birmingham city centre in around 35 minutes. I'd stay again.

We cancelled within the cancellation period and were assured we'd receive a full refund, but it was refused. We're taking the matter to small claims court.

For a family of two adults and three children, £49 a night near the airport, with two double beds in one room, was the main reason I gave it five stars. The price and cleanliness made it a perfectly acceptable stay. We called reception thinking the place was “Adnan’s Hotel,” but Gables Hotel Solihull welcomed us instead. The photos may be of rooms at Adnan’s Hotel, because the actual rooms at Gables Hotel are different.

The windows were thin, so traffic from the busy main road right beside the hotel was very loud, and the bed wasn't comfortable. The bathroom needed a better clean, with mould on the wall. The bedroom also wasn't very clean: there were odd stains on the curtains, and the table surface next to the bed was dirty. The location was alright, especially if you're heading to the airport after checking out. There's also an X1 bus stop serving Birmingham city centre. For this price, though, I'd look elsewhere. You can find better hotels a little closer to Birmingham for only a bit more, and I wouldn't recommend staying here longer than a few days.

At that price, I'd stay again if I were travelling alone for a night. The room seemed really suited to one person, and some maintenance could have been better. I didn't use the shower, so can't comment on it. Checking out was awkward because I had to leave on time for something and there weren't any staff around for a while. It was confusing to arrive because the place connects to the restaurant. I went into the restaurant first, then was sent to another building a short walk away to get the keys. From there I had to walk back to the restaurant building and climb the stairs at its side. It's a roof over your head for the night, but I know it won't suit everyone. I'm easy to please, and while I wanted to give it 4/5, a solid 3 feels fair. There wasn't a 3.5 option.
