Apollo Hotel

My room was clean and had a big, really nice bed. There was a kettle, tea, coffee, milk and even biscuits in the bedroom, and the bathroom was clean with fresh towels. The hotel looks very outdated from the outside, but the rooms are nice and clean, and you can’t ask for more. Big up to the hard-working cleaners, without them you wouldn’t have a hotel, remember that! I’d stay again.

The first look from the car park made me wonder what I’d booked, but I changed my mind once I got inside. The place is handy for getting around Birmingham, and the reception team were friendly and accommodating. There’s a bar for a cold pint, and dogs are welcome too, which was a real plus while I was visiting family for one night. The rooms feel like small apartments, with their own doors opening onto either the car park or the lobby. The decor is very 90s, lots of dark wood, but I found it more nostalgic than dated. It was clean and well kept. For the price, it’s one of the best value places I’ve stayed in Birmingham, probably in my top three out of around 25. I’d happily come back.

We’ve been booking conference rooms at the Apollo Hotel for years. The reception is a pleasant, relaxing place, and the team there are friendly and easy to approach. There’s lots of parking, which helps, and the location makes it easy to get to the city centre and nearby attractions.

I arrived at 9:30 in the morning tired and needing a room, but there was nobody at reception to help. I’d already paid £71, and when I asked for the money back, it wasn’t returned. I hadn’t seen a clear check-in time while booking, and only learned after paying that check-in started at 2:00 PM. The lack of clear information and how the situation was handled left me very dissatisfied.
