The room, bathroom, towels, bed and sheets were all clean, and from the third floor the hotel was quiet. Its location is handy, right by Birmingham train station, oriental restaurants and a Wetherspoons pub, though we didn’t eat at any of them. I barely spoke to staff, just enough to collect the key and return it the next day, so I can’t really comment on them. There’s a lot of wear and tear throughout. The stair carpets had holes, and the ones in our room were patched with gaffer tape. The third floor windows looked like they hadn’t been cleaned inside or out for a while, and the bathroom door handle was missing screws. Everything felt old and tired. Even so, I’d stay again because the location suits me.

The room was a disgrace. There was a condom under the bed, which I only found after shifting the bed a little, and a towel had a skid mark on it. I was absolutely disgusted. When I told the man at reception, he just smiled and shrugged. The West Indian lady in the morning was very nice and apologetic, but this still wasn’t acceptable. I booked at the last minute because my usual hotel was full. At £54, the price was fairly cheap.

I booked room only. My room was comfortable, with its own bathroom and a bathtub. The hotel is conveniently close to Birmingham New Street railway station and the Bull Ring shopping centre.

A short walk gets you to New Street and the Bull Ring, and the staff were really friendly. For what it costs, the room was absolutely fine. It was warm and fresh, with sash windows that opened all the way. A delightful stay, I’d recommend it 👌
