We slept well, and check-out was easy. The staff were mostly very nice, though it took a while to get a table cleaned for us at breakfast. Most of the breakfast food was cold and seemed to have been sitting out for a while, and the scrambled eggs were discoloured. I did enjoy the jam on toast, though. I wouldn’t be keen to come back for breakfast. On our one-night stay, the room was comfortable and ready when we arrived. We rested there for a few hours, then returned just before the restaurant closed. A lovely staff member still let us order, and the service was very quick, but the pizza and chips weren’t very nice. Later, other guests and cleaners made a lot of noise in the hallway while we were waking up. When we packed and left a bit late, cleaners knocked to ask if we were checking out late; one friendly cleaner spoke with us before we left. They said they sold toothpaste, but had run out, so bring your own.

My room was immaculate and full of natural light, with two double beds. Despite the busy road nearby, there was no noise pollution. The hotel is lovely inside, and there’s a cafe and bar area that would be nice to study in. It’s right by the train station and just a short walk from all the music venues. The staff were so kind and lovely. A really nice stay!

The rooms were comfortable, clean and surprisingly quiet, and all the staff were welcoming throughout our stay. The man hosting at the door deserves a special mention, he was particularly friendly and funny and made a great first impression. Just outside Grand Central Birmingham, the hotel is perfectly placed for getting around the city. It was reasonably priced, and nicer than I expected for somewhere so central. Breakfast was a little underwhelming, though about standard for a hotel and didn’t spoil the stay. Good value, and I’d happily come back and recommend it.

The reception staff and hallways are nice, and it’s comfortable enough for one night, but the rooms feel tired and I wouldn’t want to spend much time in one. The hotel needs some investment and proper maintenance. In our bathroom, some screw caps were missing, a screw was holding the vanity unit together, and parts of the shower controls were missing.

The hotel is clean and good value for its location, and breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the Hippodrome, the mailbox and Bull Ring shopping. Everyone we spoke to was very polite, especially Fafdar at reception, who looked after us and made sure our stay was going well. Thanks.
